Facebook, Inc. agreed to pay 650 000 USD Cambridge Analytica. #FB

Consulting company Cambridge Analytica Facebook filed for an action for infringement of the legislation on the disclosure of personal information during the cooperation, however, Facebook agreed to pay a fine in the amount of 500 thousand pounds.

 

Harry Kinmouth (General counsel Facebook) said that the company is pleased to settle the issue with Cambridge Analytica, after adding: “we have made major changes in our platform, significantly limiting developers access information applications. Protection of information and the privacy of individuals is a priority for Facebook and we are continuing to create new controls to help people with protecting and managing their information.”

 

James Dipple-Johnstone, who is Deputy Commissioner of the ICO, stated - “the main problem was that data on UK citizens was exposed to a serious risk. The protection of personal information and privacy is fundamental. We are pleased to hear that Facebook has taken and will take significant steps to comply with the fundamental principles of data protection.”

 

ICO (Initial coin offering) has written Facebook a fine in the amount of 650,000 USD a violation of the law on protection of personal data. The regulator reports that in the period from 2007 to 2014 Facebook gave user data to mobile app developers. The data about 87 million people have been used Cambridge Analytica to handle political orders without their knowledge.
